Merry Christmas!

Phew! What a busy few months!! We've been run off our feet with Christmas orders which has been fantastic! But it has meant that I've had to neglect the blog for a wee while...

We're currently in Cape Town, enjoying some time out and also busy working on some new lines of Jewellery. We've got some very exciting ideas for lovemedesigns in 2011, so watch this space!

I'll be back soon blogging all about what we've been up to in Cape Town, but for now we'd like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you've all had a wonderful year and are ready for 2011! May you have a peaceful and happy time over Christmas.

A Royal Wedding

So the big news today is of course Prince William and Kate Middleton's engagement. I must say I didn't fall off my chair with shock when it was announced - but who did? It's exciting news nonetheless and I love a wedding, especially a royal wedding. What will her dress be like?!

Prince William gave Kate his late mother Diana's sapphire and diamond engagement ring - stunning.

 

Favourite celeb fashion pics of the week...

Doesn't Emma Watson look lovely at Friday's premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows? I must admit, I wasn't too keen on the hair at first - but she's finally laid to rest Hermione and the hair is simply screaming 'I'm freeeeeeeeeee!'

Both Danni and Cheryl looked amazing on last night's XFactor. Dannii wore a striking white toga-style asymmetrical Carla Zampatti gown and nude Sergio Rossi heels...

Sparkle This Winter!

I've finally* accepted that Winter has arrived *sob. But, do you want to know what is keeping me going through these dark winter months?? Fabulous jewellery of course!! I know that a beautiful, sparkly necklace can't keep you warm...BUT...it can make you feel amazingly glamorous and is the perfect accessory for this season's glitzy pre-Christmas parties. 

I must say that even though I moan about being cold ALL the time, there is something magical about this time of year...The Christmas lights have been switched on all over London, I'm already over excited about the must-do yearly tradition of ice-skating at Somerset House, (no I can't ice-skate but it's just so romantic and the Christmas Tree is always so pretty!) I've naturally started on the mulled wine (or hot cider as I discovered last night - amazing) and of course there's all the fabulous parties to look forward to!

So, apart from a heavily insulated and highly fashionable coat, a sparkly necklace is a must buy this month and at lovemedesigns we have the perfect piece just for you...

Piece of the week - Pretty Heart Charms

Each week we've decided to choose a piece from the lovemedesigns Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection to shine the spotlight on!

Eat Pray Love

I went to the Eat Pray Love premiere last night in London which was fabulous! Julia Roberts looked amazing as always in a white Stella McCartney trouser suit. The film was good - it definitely made me want to go and find myself in Bali, preferably with Javier Bardem.

I wore lovemedesigns Crystal Cross Necklace which complemented my black maxi dress perfectly! (As you can see am desperately hanging onto what is left of the summer!)

A cupcake a day...

Apparently it's National Cupcake Week this week! Who'd have thought?! So in honour of these tasty little treats and for all you lovely people out there who like me are slightly obsessed, here is a pic of my absolute FAVOURITE cupcake of all time...

A singer, a film and a bonfire

So last night was fun...I was invited to party at Imogen Heap's house (well, it was actually in her garden and typical me arrived wearing a little summer dress, ankle boots and a flimsy denim shirt, forgetting that it's actually cold now). Anyway, we were there to view my friend's documentary which is about the making of Imogen's album 'Ellipse.'


There was two yurts in her garden decorated with beautiful fairy lights and chinese lanterns - one yurt was full of food and the other full of drink - perfect! (The highlight of my evening - apart from the film of course - was the ENORMOUS pot of melted dark chocolate toblerone which we had over strawberries whilst sitting next to the bonfire, heaven!)


What I love about Imogen is how she expresses herself through her clothes and accessories. She loves to experiment with different styles and she certainly isn't afraid of stepping outside the box when it comes to fashion. Her personality shines through what she wears and more importantly how she wears it! Fabulous.

Bling is back

I do love a bit of bling. Seen here at Swarovski, this piece below just screams fabulous. Consisting of Crystal Satin, Jet Hematite and Jet crystal beads, it is certainly a necklace with attitude.


I'm completely besotted with this stunning piece from New York designer Assad Mounser. Not for the faint-hearted, this necklace is the epitome of glam rock. Dare to wear it?

Here at lovemedesigns we do are more wearable version of the above! Check out our Cross Collection which incorporates crystals, pearls and diamante pendants. I think it's fun to glam it up and wear a bit of bling every day - why wait for a special occasion?!

Meet the loveme family

At lovemedesigns, we are a tiny team of three, so allow me to introduce everyone...

I'm Mel, the voice behind the blog. I, alongside my lovely Mum Linda, are the designers here at loveme and work very closely together even though we live at opposite ends of the world! Whilst I'm in the hustle and bustle of London, Mum lives in the beautiful city of Cape Town and she often says it is the breathtaking scenery and nature which inspires her.

Many of the stones we use in our pieces are sourced from Cape Town and I often go back home to source new materials (as well as getting my fix of the South African sunshine!)


Last but not least is Chuck, our marketing whizz and online guru! Without Chuck we wouldn't have a website or a blog, so he is the brains behind this operation!
